Today’s question comes from Conspiracy-Girl:
I’m still relatively new to this meme so I’m not sure if this has been asked yet, but I’m curious how many of us write notes in our books. Are you a Footprint Leaver or a Preservationist?

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

If I’m going to lend a book, I will either put in a book plate, use a “from the library of” stamp, or just write my name in the book. Other than that, I don’t write in books. Textbooks excluded, of course, where I often highlighted or underlined important sections for later studying.

  12. Good question…here’s my response.

    Happy Thursday!

  19. I’ve never been able to bring myself to write in a book, not even a text book, not even in pencil. The most I can do is yellow text with a highlighter. Just the thought of writing in a book makes me cringe.

  20. Oi it’s Friday but my post is up.

Ok here is my response. Only a week late. Sorry!

  26. Interesting question, pity I’m rather more than a week late, but I have only just found the blog. (Will definitely be back.)

I am a one hundred percent preservationist. I almost never annotate or write notes of any sort, even in paperbacks. I often feel very strongly how useful, even convenient, it would be to do so, but cannot bring myself to do the deed. It’s something deep inside to do with a feeling for books. I cannot bear to see them mistreated in any way – e.g. thumbed, bent back round their spines etc
