Does your current mood affect your reading? Affect your choices? I know there are plenty of books I enjoy, but only if Im in a particular kind of mood–or books that can lift me out of a bad mood without fail. Surely I’m ot alone?

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

Hi there, a real weird thing happens to me sometimes…………. I take on the mood of the book and carry it on my shoulders long after I put the book down. I have to be careful to mentally detach myself as, if say I was reading the likes of ‘We need to talk about Kevin’, I can actually convince myself that I have a few of a character’s negative attributes………………..not always a good idea!
Also, sometimes a low- mood book will cheer me up because I thank the author for letting me feel strong emotions in a safe environment whilst some predictable happy ending books ( especially romance) can depress me as I feel the author has wasted my precious time………………am I weird or not ?

I am a total mood reader. I can’t stay in the same genre for too long or they become boring, depressing books bring me WAY down so I have to follow with something light and happy and I can hate something if I am in the wrong mood for it, then love it when the mood swings back that way. I tend to have a lot of higher star reviews because I try to wait until the mood strikes to read the right book! That is why review deadlines sometimes backfire on me! I try to give myself plenty of time so I am not stressed and then upset with my current read. :)
