Recent Sadness

What’s the saddest book you’ve read recently?

(Is any body getting bored with this series of “recent” questions? Because I’m having fun!)

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

  1. Oh! Oh! Me! I love when my recent favorites apply to the weekly question. Here’s mine fr Homer and Langley! http://iwriteinbooks.wordpress.com/2009/09/24/btt-tear-jerker/

  2. Not a tear jerker, not a particularly sad book, but managed to strike an emotional chord anyway:

  9. BTT: Recent Sad

I mentioned two books in my post.

  10. Yes, I’m bored with this series. 🙂 I haven’t answered a BTT since July 9. But it looks like I’m the only one, so carry on — I’ll just keep checking every week til a question comes up I am interested in.

  11. Well, this is rather a depressing topic. Who wants to think of sad books when the weekend is almost here! 😉

    Here’s my answer: http://www.michellesmastermusings.com/2009/09/booking-through-thursday-recent-sadness.html

I like the questions, but “recent” is starting to get further back for me! Can’t wait to graduate and catch up on my reading…

    Thanks.

  14. My answer is up here. And, unfortunately, I have to join Barbara in saying that yes, I’m a tad bored with this series. 😕 Sorry.

  15. I’m not getting tired of the ‘recent’, it is just, for me, it is hard to find anything from this year.

  16. I am liking these questions.

    Here is my BTT.

  17. Not really a tearjerker or anything but I thought some of the circumstances were quite sad.

  18. Sometimes it’s hard to come up with a book that fits the meme as being recently read. How recent is recently? Love the memes though

  19. I wrote about The Swan House, a book that I have read many times and just revisited about a month ago.

  20. […] in BTT, books, etc at 8:49 am by alitareads This week BBT asks: What’s the saddest book you’ve read […]

  21. I went a little ways back, but this one is definitely a tear jerker: BTT

  22. This was an easy pick for me because we revisited the topic at book club last night. http://rosecityreader.blogspot.com/2009/09/how-sad.html

I’m ambivalent about the “recent” questions. I’m a little bored with the them, but on the other hand, I like that the answers are quick. And who am I to complain wen someone else does the work and comes up with an idea for a blog post for me every week? So, thanks!

  23. I am still having fun with the series of “recent” questions. But i am running out of recently read books to share!

  24. My Answer is up. This book doesn’t make me cry like Marley and Me does, but the sadness of it is ingrained in my blood long after I put it down.

  25. I try to avoid sad books, really, but here’s a good one.

  26. Almost the weekend; Happy Thursday!

    My answer is here.

  27. I’m not really a fan of sad books but here’s my answer anyway:

    Recent Sadness

  28. I’ve included a sad and a disturbingly sad read. Come check it out and have a great day all!

  30. I enjoy sad books, I enjoyed reading all the responses. On my TBR list now are: The Book Thief, The Last Bridge, Tomato Girl and Cliffs of Despair. Thank you BTT members. I am reading The Glass Castle right now, this is a sad memoir but written beautifully.

  31. This is late…but I just read a book about the first ever school bombing…in 1927!!!
