Presents!

btt button

So, it’s my birthday today. (Please, no applause.) But it’s inspiring today’s question–

What, if any, memorable or special book have you ever gotten as a present? Birthday or otherwise. What made it so notable? The person who gave it? The book itself? The “gift aura?”

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

  3. Happy birthday, have a rocking day!!!

I have a very short answer, so I’ll write it here instead of my blog. I have received only 2 books as gifts. the first one i got from a friend. It’s called ‘Malgudi days’.

The second is the one I got from my boyfriend which is named ‘Rubbish boyfriends’. He has written on the first page ‘From a not so rubbish boyfriend’. Thats why the book will be always dear to me.

  4. Happy Birthday! Hope you had a wonderful day today~

Anyhoo, here is my reply for today. Thanks for another great prompt =]

  22. Hey folks–somebody left SEVEN different comments, all of which were in the spam queue and when I tried to clear them, I accidentally deleted the several other comments that were GOOD ones that I wanted to keep.

    Sorry about that!

So–if you’ve commented and yours isn’t up (as of right now, at least), please try again.

And, again, please, please, please–when the spam filter catches your comment, don’t assume that it disappeared. Give me time to approve it! Multiple comments just make more work for me!

(And, on my birthday, too…) (grin)

  23. This makes me wish I got more books as presents.

  24. Happy Birthday!!!

  25. Happy Birthday! Nice to meet a fellow Scorpio… 🙂

Speaking of fiery, independent natures — I went out on my own this week for the BTT:

But I will happily do this BTT in the near future — such a happy topic… and I received a couple of great books as presents just last week!

  38. I kind of already answered this question in an earlier post this week. My answer is in the beginning of this book club discussion of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

  56. I don’t know if it qualifies as a “gift”, but my mother “gave” me my great grandmothers books that she had handed down to her. Two are primary school books with stories like Pandora’s Box in them, and one is her VERY OLD copy of Gone With the Wind. Their bindings are totally falling apart. I rarely read them, because I am afraid they will disintegrate faster. But they mean the world to me and that copy of Gone With the Wind is what started my love and fascination with the classics.

I found you through Smiling Sally. I LOVE these questions and I will be using them on my book club blog, but I don’t have this one posted yet. So I hope you don’t mind that I left you my answer here.
    *hugs*
