Different kind of reading … what do you think about letters? Do you ever send them anymore? Receive them? Or do you just do email and texts instead? Do you miss the days when people used to write letters?

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

  1. I love letters. I still send cards (notes and postcards) regularly, although I can’t remember the last time I wrote a real not-work-related letter. I’m also a fan of the yearly updates that come as Christmas/holiday letters.

  2. I love letters, but I don’t send or receive them any more. http://novel-idea-dithers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/letters.html

  3. I haven’t written an actual letter since 1996, and I don’t think I’ve received one since then either. I don’t text much, but I do communicate through email, including a yearly Christmas letter to some relatives abroad that’s set up like a real letter but sent as email.

I do love reading letters and am currently reading the collected letters of a young man in the latter part of the 19th century, sent to his family in northern Iceland while he was at school in the south. They are very interesting and occasionally quite funny.
