Yesterday, April 15th, was Tax Day here in the U.S., which means lots of lucky people will get refunds of over-paid taxes.

Whether you’re one of them or not, what would you spend an unexpected windfall on? Say … $50? How about $500?

(And, this is a reading meme, so by rights the answer should be book-related, but hey, feel free to go wild and splurge on anything you like.)

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

  11. No answer on my blog this week, because my answer is short and basic: we usually use it to pay off some debts or to finance a special house project or need. We usually give some portion of it away to a special cause or need.

  12. My post is up. Happy BTT everyone.

  19. I’m up this week, too! As Abba would say, “Money, money, money . . . always sunny . . . in a rich man’s world.” :)

  20. The reality is that we would probably spend the money on bills but it was fun to pretend!

  21. I realized we can use our refund to buy something bookish that we were going to spend money on anyway. Hooray!

  31. Mine is nothing fun….It’s here

  32. I’d buy shoes or books for me…but the reality of it is, I’d buy books for my five children or shoes or toys.

It seems like I find myself always shopping for things my children likes, even if I set out to shop just for me.

  33. Not a book related answer, but since I already spent my refund, I didn’t feel like I could just make up something else I’d spend the money on.

  34. A little late, but here is mine, plus a little extra on what (non-tax) money I lately DID spend on books.
