This year I really got into a couple of new authors, Neal Asher and Neil Gaiman (it's the year of the Nea/ils I think, I also have a Neal Stephenson book on my "soon to read" shelf). So my favorite books for this year are Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (possibly my favorite book of all time, by anyone) and Gridlinked by Neal Asher (with just about all of the other Polity books in a tie with Gridlinked lol). Both of these are older books and both the author's first novel, interestingly enough.
