I lend. I also make notes on my calendar (and in the Sticky Notes section of my computer) as to why I’ve lent what to, so that I’ll remember to ask for the book back later… so as a rule, I get my books back.
I borrow, but usually only short-term. If I love the book, I’ll buy it and return the original.
And there are some that are meant to passed around and not kept.
